Hey ladies! I am so excited to feature a blogger very dear to my heart today. This guest post from Monica! She comes to us over from her blog, Lamp Trimming Ministries. Don’t forget to go check her out!
I remember going on vacation with my family to Florida and seeing many beautiful sights as we went from place to place. The gift of sight is a wonderful blessing for which I am very thankful.
Today I would like to focus on three directions in which we can look. We can look in, we can look out, and we can look up.
What do I mean by looking in? Imagine a house, with rooms, closets, cupboards and so on. If you were the owner of that house, you would have free access to every room, closet and cupboard, nothing would be off limits to you.
When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, our heart becomes His home and He becomes a permanent resident there. Jesus wants to have full access to every area of our heart. He wants to be Lord of our lives, to sit on the throne of our hearts. The more we are strengthened by the Spirit, the more we will be like Jesus. The more we are like Him, the more He will settle down and feel at home in our hearts (Ephesians 3:16-17).
This extends to the books I read, the movies I watch, the music I listen to, the way I dress, everything. Now, let’s take a look inside and ask ourselves this question. What is the condition of my heart right now? Is Jesus Lord over every area of my life?
We are also to look out. In Titus 2, God’s instruction to older women is to teach the younger women. We can prayerfully look out and around us to see who God might have us to mentor. We all know someone that is younger than us that we can teach the Word to, pray with, spend time with and encourage. We teach by our example as well as by our words. Are we as older women seeking to live holy lives, allowing God’s Word to be our standard? There are many young women who have the same desire but are struggling. They are praying for an older woman to take some time to walk alongside, to invest in their lives and teach them how to live the Word. Are you willing for God to use you in this way?
As the headlines tell us about mass shootings, hostage-taking, and political unrest, many are fearful, empty and feel hopeless. As believers, we have a bright future and a blessed hope that is beyond this world. In the midst of all of the bad news, we can still look up, because our Lord’s return is at hand. It could happen at any time. We are almost home. Jesus is coming soon (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).
Take some time today to look in, look out and look up.
For any that may not know about the good news of Jesus, who came to earth to die for our sins, please feel free to send me an email, I would love to speak with you.
Monica has always had a passion for sharing God’s Word with her sisters in Christ. She is excited to get into God’s Word and write about various aspects of our Christian walk. Be sure to head over and check her out at www.lamptrimmingministries.com!
